With Earth Day just around the corner, it’s a great time to reassess your lifestyle and think about what you can do to make an earth-friendly impact.

This year, some of our favorite brands are making it simple for us. Here are five eco-friendly stores that are making huge strides to reduce their carbon footprint and make a positive, long-term change for the planet.

The Mountain sells themed apparel for men, women, and children. Each year, The Mountain commits to donating a minimum of $10,000 to the African Wildlife Foundation. The AWF is an advocate group for the protection of wildlife and land that helps to curb endangerment and ecosystem damage while educating the public. When you purchase the special AWF products through The Mountain’s website, you’re donating directly to the cause and helping to ensure that the wildlife and wild lands of Africa continue to thrive.

ReUseIt is helping households to transition from disposable items to reusable items in every part of their lives. From household and kitchen items to bags and bottles, you can find whatever you need for you and your family to cut down on “one-and-done” waste items. Additionally, they offer gardening resources and compostable items so that you can lessen your food-footprint and learn to recycle and compost like a pro.

TOMS creates products with sustainable materials and carries vegan bags and shoes as well. These shoes include natural hemp, organic cotton, and/or recycled polyester and the materials are used on the upper, liner and the insole cover. All of their shoe boxes use sustainable packaging made from 80% recycled post-consumer waste and are printed with soy ink. On top of that, TOMs is infamous for their “one for one” program. For every pair of shoes or eyewear you purchase, TOMs will give a pair to someone in need.

adidas has partnered up with Parley to create a shoe that turns plastic from the ocean into a sustainable sneaker. This is done by using a yarn that turns the plastic into a polymer that can be used to construct knitted shoewear. Adidas has sold over 1 million pairs, and has turned the project into a full-time line that buyers can support year-round.

Eileen Fisher has created the Vision 2020 campaign, a campaign that vows to greatly increase their earth-friendly efforts by the year 2020. Some of these promises include using all organic cotton and linen coming from sustainably managed land, a push for more responsible dyes and colors, using 25% less water in their dyehouse, and working to improve the lives of workers in their supply chain.

By supporting these companies you’re supporting a myriad of great causes, from sustainable footwear to wildlife conservation to more recycled and organic materials.
